Wine for the Weekend of 12/27/19
Rosa Regale is the Wine for the Weekend of 12/27/19
One of the things that is cool about Banfi is that they like to make unusual wines. And, that is why Rosa Regale is the wine for the weekend of 12/27/19. It is a sparkling red wine from the rare Brachetto d’Acqui grape grown in Piemonte (Piedmont). See the map above. In addition to Rosa Regale, Banfi makes the only Tuscan vermentino. And, most wineries in Tuscany make Vin Santo for a dessert wine using the trebbiano grape. Instead, Banfi makes Florus dessert wine from the moscadello grape.
Aromas, Tastes and Pairings
Rosa Regale has aromas of red fruits and flowers such as roses. And, it has flavors of red fruits like strawberries and raspberries. Enjoy it as an aperitif. And, try it with foods that pair well with sweet reds like barbecued foods, spicy foods, pizza and pasta in red sauce. Cristina Mariani-May, CEO of Banfi says that it goes great with chocolate as well. Drink it chilled and spend about $18. It is an unusual treat.

I first tried that wine on a Disney cruise and fell in love. It’s not widely available where I live unfortunately.
Ask the store to order it for you.
