Washington State
Washington State is the second largest producer of wines in the U.S. behind California. Due to its location in the Northwest, it enjoys the two things that grapes love. Washington State has warm summer days which increases the sugar levels. And, it has cool nights which increases the acids in the grapes. Also, it has about the same latitude as France. This is why France produces so many great wines. The best part is that most Washington State wines are priced reasonably! And, they are known for great Merlots and white wines, especially Merlots. The Yakima Valley, Columbia Valley and Walla Walla areas are some of the great wine producing places.
Washington State Wines
My favorite winery is Chateau Ste. Michelle. It is the state’s oldest winery. They produce a nice variety of wines including Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. And, you can go for tastings, tours ands concerts! They make an awesome Riesling for a great price. Also, Columbia Crest is another great winery. Like Chateau Ste. Michelle, it makes great wines for reasonable prices. Most are less than $10 for their base wines. And, they are good. Therefore, there is no need to buy their more expensive offerings. Other good wineries includes Hedges Estate, L’Ecole No. 41, and Mary Hill.
