Do You Know How To Read A Wine Label?
Nickel & Nickel makes a variety of wines. Owned by Far Niente, it makes a great choice for wine label trivia. So, Do You Know How To Read A Wine Label?
What does State Ranch mean on this label?
Wine Label Trivia Answer
State Ranch means the grapes are produced from a single vineyard. This increases the quality of the wine, because the winemaker can control the grape growing process without mixing grapes from other vineyards. Therefore, they typically cost more.

Vineyard
I knew you would know. LOL. Actual answer I’m looking for is single vineyard. You get half a point.
It means the state of where the grapes were grown?
Nope. It means the grapes are from a single vineyard in this case it’s called State Ranch vineyard. Google Nickel and Nickel and see how many they have. Thanks for playing. You still get an extra entry into the wine giveaway! Frank

Umm. So, I like this game. But what if that part of the label said “Summer Breeze”? I mean, is there anything in the labeling rules of CA wine that says “State Ranch” means something along the lines of “single vinyard”?
Hi Phil. I believe if you designate a single vineyard on your label, then those grapes have to be from that vineyard. Summer Breeze would be recognized as a made up name for that wine. Thanks Frank
