Canned wines are Bad Wine #21. Recently, on a flight to Florida for vacation, I see the attendant handing a passenger a can of wine. I am so curious. I speak to the attendant about it and tell her that I am a wine educator. She surprises me with a free can of red wine! I thank her and she said you thank me by telling me what you think. I laugh when I see the name of the wine. It is Monkey wine. LOL. I do not support or like canned wine. Read my post which gives the reasons why. I will put the link at the bottom of this post.

I look at the can and laugh. Maybe that is the intended response? Also, this can violates another principle that I teach. Do not buy labels! My personal wine quote, “You can not drink the label!”. LOL. I will post anoher link at the bottom about label buying. I read every word on the can including the side. It is a little difficult to read, but it is about %13.5 alcohol. And, immediately I notice what most people might miss. A standard pour for a glass of wine is 5 ounces. This can was about twice that. Therefore, you drink two glasses of wine with cans. It is good to know if you are driving.

I take my first sip and I think not bad until I swallow. Please note that canned winemakers purposely add sugar usually in the form of grape juice to improve mouth feel. However, this destroys the wine. I frown and think that I just had a sip of grape juice with alcohol. LOL. To what is the world coming? The flight attendant returns. I tell her the news. She says that it is what she thought I would say and laughs. I show her the back where it says ridiculously good wine. I look at her and say just ridiculous and we both laugh.
